The "Coro Polifonico di Ciampino" is founded in 1976 and it is constituted in a Cultural Association in 1985, in order to spread the holy and secular choral music.Its repertoire ranges from the Gregorian chant to the Renaissance , the Eighteenth century and Romantic polyphony, to the Opera, to the compositions of modern and contemporary authors, until the national and international folklore.The chorus has sung during the solemn capitular Mass near the high altar of St Peters Chair many times and it has also been to the Quirinal, where it has performed in the presence of the Head of the State.It has given concerts in the most important Roman Churches, and it has also attended to many regional and national Choral reviews, receiving many appreciations and certificates.The Chorus has toured Austria, France, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Sloveny and Ungary where it has performed in prestigious concerts.It was invited to Tromso, in Norway, in June 2004 in order to have a cultural exchange connected to U. Nobile and R. Amundsens leading figures, and to their tragical Arctic cruises. In Tromso The Ciampino Polyphonic Chorus has met with a huge success, reported also by local press and radio stations. On this occasion there were also The Mayors and the Councillors in charge of the Municipal Culture of Ciampino and of Tromso.It carried out the Traviata concert by G. Verdi in March 2001 and Cavalleria Rusticana by P. Mascagni in a semi scenic version in November 2003.It has also played the first opening of the Brief cantata LAdultera perdonata, for soloists, chorus and essemble of strings, composed by our young organist Antonio Alessandri. The repeat performance has been asked again for many times.The Chorus is going to tour Spain at the end of September 2006 and it will attend to two concerts to Santiago of Compostela region.The Association sets up every year the Rassegna Corale, that is the Choral Exhibition ( it is now at the 31 edition) and the Novembre Musicale that is the Musical November in onour of St. Cecily ( it is now at the 30 edition). The first exhibition has begun a competitive international resort, and it is known in the specialized internet chains, whereas as regards the second one it can be considered as a thematic show and this year will be programmed in three performances to celebrate the Chorus thirtieth anniversary celebration.The Chorus Master, Mario Lupi, runs the Choir since its foundation and he has awarded a gold medal by the International Organization Foyer des Artistes.
